{"id":10283,"date":"2023-07-09T14:53:24","date_gmt":"2023-07-09T14:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tartuh.ee\/?page_id=10283"},"modified":"2025-01-23T13:25:20","modified_gmt":"2025-01-23T13:25:20","slug":"recognition-of-prior-learning-and-professional-experience","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.tartuh.ee\/en\/admission\/recognition-of-prior-learning-and-professional-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"Recognition of Prior Learning and Professional Experience\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Recognition of prior learning and professional experience (RPL) means that prior learning and professional experience are taken into account when completing a curriculum.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When applying for recognition of prior learning and professional experience, the most important aspect is the substantive relevance of the prior learning to the curriculum \u2013 the knowledge and skills acquired through training or work experience must be compared to the learning outcomes of the relevant curriculum subjects.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Curricula with subjects and learning outcomes can be found in the study information system <a href=\"https:\/\/tahvel.edu.ee\/#\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tahvel<\/a>, through which you can also submit the application for RPL. Be sure to familiarise yourself with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tartuh.ee\/dokumendid\/Procedure%20for%20recognition%20of%20prior%20learning%20and%20professional%20experience.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RPL procedures<\/a> of the University before applying.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any questions about RPL, you can always contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tartuh.ee\/en\/studying\/support-and-counselling\/\">study specialist<\/a> of the relevant curriculum, who will explain how the application process works and advise on how the studies fit into the curriculum context.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Documents to be attached to the application:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In case of previous studies \u2013 academic transcript, diploma supplement, diploma, description of subjects, learning outcomes.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the case of continuing education \u2013 course diplomas and certificates, agendas, etc.;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the case of work experience \u2013 a copy of the employment contract, job description, certificate from the institution, analysis of experience, portfolio, professional certificate, CV, etc.;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other materials deemed relevant by the applicant.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The application is submitted by the applicant via the Tahvel study information system. The application for prior learning and\/or professional experience, together with supporting documents, must be completed electronically and submitted by the beginning of the semester for compulsory subjects, but no later than two months before the start of the subject applied for (applications for subjects starting in the first month of the first academic year are submitted during the first week of study).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The application will be reviewed by the RPL Assessment Committee of the relevant curriculum, normally within 30 calendar days, to assess the relevance of prior learning, continuing education and independent or work-based experience to the learning outcomes of the relevant subject(s). Applicants may be required to provide additional documentation, attend an interview, take a test, etc.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the decision is positive, this will be reflected in the student&#8217;s academic record in the study information system. For subjects taken at an earlier level of formal education, the original grade (including an indication of the relevant institution) will be recorded and will later be reflected on the academic transcript.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the case of continuing education, work experience and combined applications, the results will be based on the curriculum subject for which the result is marked with a non-differentiating grade of &#8216;pass&#8217;.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the case of continuing education, work experience and combined applications, the results will be based on the curriculum subject for which the result is marked with a non-differentiating grade of &#8216;pass&#8217;.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RPL applications for optional and elective subjects can be submitted throughout the year.
