Practical Training Opportunities
A significant part of the study programmes consists of practical training, where students and vocational learners have the opportunity to develop their professional skills in a real working environment.
Whenever possible, practical training follows the principle that students gain diverse knowledge, skills, and experience by training in different locations under the guidance of different supervisors.
As a student at Tartu Applied Health Sciences University, you will participate in practical training every academic year. Trainings will take place in different hospitals and healthcare institutions all over Estonia. You must be prepared to undertake practical training outside your preferred location.
Practical training can last up to three months in a row. The University arranges placements for all students. Travel and accommodation costs related to the placement are covered by the student. Throughout the training period, students are supported by both a University supervisor and a supervisor at the training institution. The University has over 800 training places. For Master’s students in Physiotherapy and Radiography the number of available placements is more limited and depends on the specific programme requirements.
Practical training experience is very important as it allows students to consolidate their professional knowledge in a practical work situation and make contacts for the future, making it easier for them to find a professional job after graduation.
