Aim of the project: 
The aim of the project is to improve the implementation of evidence-based nursing practice in Estonian healthcare by enhancing the quality of nursing education and continuing professional training at Tartu Applied Health Sciences University. 

The objective of the doctoral study is to analyze nursing students’ experiences and perceived challenges in the process of conducting research during their first-cycle higher education studies, and to assess how these experiences and the quality of supervision influence students’ readiness to apply evidence-based nursing practice in clinical work. The study also aims to identify opportunities to enhance readiness for implementing evidence-based nursing practice, using the nursing curriculum at Tartu Applied Health Sciences University as an example. 

Research Tasks: 

1. Describe and analyze the experiences and challenges faced by nursing students and supervisors at Tartu Health Care College in the process of compiling scientific work, as well as the students’ assessment of the impact of this work on their readiness to apply evidence-based nursing practice in clinical work.
2. Analyze the readiness and experiences of general nurses who graduated from Tartu Health Care College to implement evidence-based nursing practice in clinical work, and the self-assessed connection with the research work compiled during their studies.
3. Map out and highlight opportunities to enhance the readiness of general nurses to implement evidence-based nursing practice in clinical work during their basic nursing education.
