The Minister of Education and Research has approved a new English name for Tartu Health Care College, marking the beginning of a rebranding process that will also update the college’s visual identity and domain.
The new official English name of Tartu Health Care College will be Tartu Applied Health Sciences University, and it will be officially implemented on January 1, 2025. Additionally, throughout January, the college plans to adopt an updated logo and refreshed visual identity across all official channels. The college’s web address has already been updated to tartuh.ee.
“The change in the college’s English name is primarily important for strengthening its international image, enhancing clarity about its applied higher education profile, and increasing visibility. As a broader strategic objective, the name change is also tied to the international training of a workforce in a field crucial to Estonia,” explained Ulla Preeden, Rector of Tartu Health Care College. “For over five years, the college has offered master’s degree programs, including English-language curricula. During this time, we’ve often needed to explain and position the college’s true nature and role in the educational landscape. The timing of this name change has been supported by our close cooperation with the European Association of Institutions in Higher Education (EURASHE), which has similarly rebranded with names reflecting their mission and clarity about the applied higher education profile.”
The college’s visual identity is being redesigned by Artur Kuus. Since the COVID-19 crisis, the college has been using a visual mark accompanied by the phrase “Heart in the Right Place,” symbolizing the empathy, care, and dedication of the people at Tartu Health Care College. Jaanika Niinepuu, the college’s Communication Manager, noted that the ongoing rebranding process aims to align this message even more closely with the official visual identity, reflecting the college’s mission and core values while creating a cohesive image both in Estonia and internationally. “Tartu Health Care College has been recognized as Estonia’s most reputable applied university for two consecutive years. We aim to be a valued international partner and a center of excellence in the fields of health and well-being,” she added.
The college offers applied higher education programs to become nurses, midwives, radiology technicians, environmental health specialists, physiotherapists, and biomedical laboratory scientists. Vocational training is available for podologists, masseurs, emergency medical technicians, care workers, client workers for people with mental health problems, and childminders. At the master’s level, students can study health sciences, as well as international curricula in radiography and physiotherapy.
